Thin, delicate look; MARKED as 14K & heavy for size out of the box, as it should be.__I love the look of gold rings, with some interest but without stones. This is just that type of ring.__This is thin, fine gold, but solid, not hollow. I always wonder if something is real when I order online, and for gold sold in the US, it MUST be marked with the gold karat (i.e. 14K in this case). If it is not marked it is a legal violation. If it is marked but not true, it is an even more serious violation. It's not a fool proof check, but a reasonably reputable party involved (Amazon), coupled with the 14K mark (I found it with a 30x jeweler's loupe--on the inside where there is just a tiny bit of texture--that texture when viewed up close is the 14K marking). Then there is simple observation: gold, even "just" 14K is heavy compared to silver or other metals (lead being the exception). This had that extra weight that also is a trait of gold.__As far as the execution of this ring goes: It consists of what appears as 1 twisted strand of gold intertwined with 1 smooth NON-twisted strand of gold. A simple, yet elegant design. It would be even more attractive with double/triple the diameter of wire, and that much more expensive too. It is well done, especially when you consider how delicate/thin the solid wires are. I am calling them wires, but know that I can see no separation between them--the pattern they form is even/regular and pleasing.__Being this thin, you must realize it will be possible to bend this, changing it from round to ovalish, though that has NOT happened to me as yet. I just tried to pinch it (not terribly hard, but something that I hope it would survive). The ring did not bend (whew!). Just don't expect to wear this and do rough manual labor that could bend this somehow. So no masonry work, turning metal pipes/car parts...not exactly work you would put on a ring while doing, but some folks need the warning.__I just had a ring sized to the same size as this, and this fits the same, so it is true to size.__The presentation is lovely--a be-ribboned white box opens to reveal an orange "leather" covered box with a snap closure that opens to a deep royal blue ring box interior with the ring in position. Really feels special opening this.__5 stars.
