The piece that is supposed to hold the finial to the rod is a small plastic piece which is poorly designed, and the finial is too heavy to be held in place by this piece. The finials literally hang down off the rod. I also struggled getting the traverse rod to open in the center and had to manually place where I wanted them. The middle brackets are also difficult to install. I had to email the seller to get installation instructions. Overall I would not recommend this product!
